www.DunlapLivestock.com

SALE TIMES FOR TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 12TH

@ 9:00 AM FED CATTLE, FOLLOWED BY WEIGH COWS & BULLS,

FEEDER CATTLE @ 12:30 PM., THEN BRED COWS/PAIRS/BREEDING BULLS

Harvesting conditions here locally have been pretty favorable as of late and it sure is nice seeing all these fi elds open up. My wife and I were discussing on a drive that seeing the cows out in stalk fi elds is one of the great joys of fall. I’ve always said that cow never really looked any better. She’s weaned a calf, starting to get ready to deliver another one in a few months and putting on that beautiful winter coat of hair! We had 2 great local fundraisers in our local community this week with events for our youth athletic association and our after-prom group. Congrats on 2 very successful nights! Good luck and have an extremely safe harvest!

Don’t forget our Western Iowa Preconditioned Calf/Yrlg Auction

Friday, November 8th, @ 10:30am • Expecting 1000 head.

***Attention Calf Sellers*****

Feed yards are demanding new crop calves have had a complete vaccination

protocol. Please visit with your veterinarian. Nearly all our feed yard customers

are preferring a modifi ed live series of shots in addition to boosters. The green

tag program is time tested & trusted. In addition, a long time weaned, 45 days

or longer, appears to be working the best.

FED CATTLE/WEIGH COWS TUESDAY, OCT 29TH: Tuesday’s fed cattle auction continues to show some strength and probably was another $1-2 better. Weigh cows were basically steady I heard somewhere that the current rally on the board that we are in is the 3rd largest since 1980. Of course, the start of that was an unrealistic response down to a small plant fi re in Kansas. That being said it sure is nice seeing this market respond. Both fed cattle and cutter cow beef markets posted strong gains at the end of the week. We must continue to fi ght and try and narrow the spread of these markets. Cow beef was up nearly $10 on Friday jumping at levels I haven’t seen in sometime! These prices support signifi cantly higher levels and we need to claw and fi ght to try and get some of it back! Special weigh cow auction November 19th.

FEEDER CATTLE FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST: Friday’s feeder trade featured new crop calves off cows and some really nice yearling hfrs and steers. We had one large string of calves that carried no fall shots and unfortunately it sure showed on the price. We’ve pushed and promoted the preconditioning program for over 50 years and nothing today makes us back off that push. The yearling market was stronger again with a pot load of 1034# steers at $137.50 and 850# hfrs up to $142.50.
