Seems like a while since we’ve seen the sun and it darn sure feels good this Monday morning. Futures markets have nearly returned to normal since the Tyson fi re a couple of months ago. The cash market has a ways to go. I attended the cattle market pricing rally held in Omaha last Wednesday. It was a rally about our pricing structure in this industry. Producers and feed yard operators must take it back. If we continue to offer these cattle up at non negotiated contractual agreements with Packers we will become the exact copy of the hog & poultry industries. I’m sure packers would love it but I don’t think we will.
***ATTENTION CALF SELLERS***** FEED YARDS ARE DEMANDING NEW CROP CALVES HAVE HAD A COMPLETE VACCINATION PROTOCOL. PLEASE VISIT WITH YOUR VETERINARIAN. NEARLY ALL OUR FEED YARD CUSTOMERS ARE PREFERRING A MODIFIED LIVE SERIES OF SHOTS IN ADDITION TO BOOSTERS. THE GREEN TAG PROGRAM IS TIME TESTED & TRUSTED. IN ADDITION, A LONG TIME WEANED, 45 DAYS OR LONGER, APPEARS TO BE WORKING THE BEST.
FED CATTLE/WEIGH COWS TUESDAY, OCT 1ST: Fed cattle were $1-2 higher on Tuesday. I thought our overall quality was as good as I’ve seen in sometime. Weigh cows were also a tad stronger. Thanks to all the consignors for a great auction!!
